MEET THE BOARD

DOLL SMITH FOUNDER

Mrs. Doll Smith is a lifelong community leader whose dedication to service began in her hometown of Caruthersville, Missouri. For more than a decade she has worked tirelessly across the Chicagoland area, supporting and fundraising  for women’s and children’s housing initiatives. Doll’s work has earned numerous honors, including recognition in Fortune Magazine, awards from the American Legion, and the Chicago Defender Women of Excellence Award. Today, as a Veterans Service Officer (VSO)  she continues her mission to uplift, empower, and inspire hope within the veteran community.

In 2011, Doll founded DOLL INC, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization serving homeless veterans and their families. Doll’s vision was to create an organization that would provide veterans not only with housing but with the supportive services and job training they would need to live fulfilling and productive lives.

JOHN WORTHY CEO

John Worthy served  six years in the United States Army as part of a mobile nuclear missile launch crew in Germany during the height of the Cold War. As a veteran, John has held leadership positions in several veteran nonprofits, including serving as Illinois State Commander for the National Association of Black Veterans and as a Platoon Leader for The Mission Continues. Before becoming the CEO of DOLL INC., John was the CEO of the RTW Veteran Center, a nonprofit that provided free hot meals to veterans and community members in one of Chicago's most economically disadvantaged areas. He is also the owner of Spartan General Contracting LLC, a certified service-disabled veteran-owned business and a licensed general contractor in the city of Chicago.
